everything's just great

So yeah. This is fun.

I don't lie. :D

Actually, yeah. I'm having a good time. On Friday, I was starting to feel a little stressed, but now I'm pretty good. It's been a while since I've been here doing anything, so why not take this time and catch up on life?

Most recently, I've been into the Twilight series. I read Twilight because I wanted to watch the film, but mainly because its a series I've been meaning to get to (my younger cousin first recommended it to me when she first started reading it like two years ago or so). I found that this was a good opportunity. The book didn't disappoint. I actually read it in a day. I read New Moon in a day, too. I just got back from the store. Went to buy Eclipse, and the soundtrack (which is pretty good, too).

But yeah, so I went to see the film. It was okay. It didn't suck, but its not a to-die-for movie, either. In my opinion, Stewart misinterpreted two crucial scenes; 1 being the scene where she tells Edward she knows he's a vampire, 2 being the scene when she leaves home. The way she went through doing it wasn't the way I pictured, and I don't think it got the message across in the right manner. Most fans are bias because of Pattinson or one of the other actors.

Enough of that, though. What else is new...

I had a few funny things to blog about, but I forgot them all. Most dealt with my younger sister and the dumb things she does.

Oh yeah. Like two weeks ago, it was my friend's birthday party. I made her a fun card. But, earlier that day my sister discovered a new snack combo. Flaming Hot Cheetos + dried cuttlefish/squid = delicious. (I must warn you, though, if you're planning to drink coconut juice at the same time, you'll get a lot of the taste of the can because of the dried cuttlefish/squid.)

I can't think of anything else to say, and since this has been a long rant, I'll let you all go. Why would you want to read this crap anyways? :D

someone i know

Its been a while. Hello.

This oneshot I co-wrote it with my cousin one day when we were on a random picnic (I think, anyways). I'm not sure why I have a tendency to write reflective fiction. Its probably because I think too hard. Meh. Hope you like it.

Someone I Know

a oneshot by oskies & sana

I walked up and down the aisles, browsing through the endless amounts of food, my younger sister trailing silently behind me in the brightly lit, Clorox smelling grocery store.

“Hello, Junsu.”

I looked up from the colorful boxes of dry noodles.

“Hello…Jaejoong.”

“It’s been a while, huh?” Jaejoong asked, scratching a spot behind his ear in embarrassment. “How have you been?”

“Same as before,” I replied. “You?”

“Good.”

The conversation was awkward and strained. Not like before. Never like before.

“Jaejoong!”

He looked towards the front of the store, where an elderly lady stood leaning against an almost empty grocery cart.

“I’m coming!” Jaejoong shouted towards the woman. “I’m sorry, Junsu, but I have to go. It was nice seeing you again! We should get together some time!”

“Yes,” I nodded. “We should.”

“Goodbye!” he shouted as he ran towards the woman.

“Bye,” I waved back. There was silence as I watched him disappear around the corner.

“Junsu.”

I jumped at the voice. I turned around and faced my little sister.

“Yes?” I asked, both my eyebrows rising.

She hesitated, debating something. I rolled my eyes and turned back to the myriad of noodle boxes to my right.

Finally, she said, “How do you know Jaejoong? He’s the most popular guy in school, and, well, you’re…not.”

What she said made me stop. Of course, my fourteen-year-old sister would know who’s popular and who’s not at my high school.

“He’s just…”

I stopped, trying to find the right words. I thought back, remembering what happened between Jaejoong and me all those years ago.

We were friends. Almost inseparable back then. We did everything together. I don’t know what happened to us. We just…grew apart.

I guess it started in middle school. We were in the same class, but for some reason, we started to split. Our personalities changed. He made tons of new friends. He was handsome, smart, and outgoing. He was a leader. Admired. I was…everything he wasn’t. I got average grades, didn’t bother with myself, and preferred talking to myself than others. The only thing I was good at was writing. So I wrote.

We still talked. We still hung out. But then, we talked less frequently, until we just…stopped.

It wasn’t only his fault. But it wasn’t only my fault. We both did it…by not trying harder to stay together. By not trying harder to keep our friendship strong.

Finally, I managed to mutter, “…someone I know.”

the light in the stars

So yeah, remember how I mentioned earlier that I was going to put up my old (and possibly new? :O) fanfiction and other stuff I've done over the years? Well, this would be the first out of many, I guess. At least some. :D

This is titled "The Light in the Stars." Its the first fanfic I ever wrote, so it forever has a place in my memory.

The Light in the Stars
a oneshot by oskies

I walked past her every night. What her name was, I, Jung Yunho, will never know. To tell the truth, I was afraid. She looked weird. She looked dirty. She looked beaten down and ragged. She looked like one of those people your parents tell you to stay away from. Can you blame me?

But, she changed me.

That night was different. I was walking home, as usual, and I looked at her. She seemed different that night. And she was. That night, she was bleeding. It seemed like I was the only person that noticed. Everyone else walked past the empty shell, eyes averted.

“Are you okay?” I asked, taking out my handkerchief and handing it to her. “Why are you bleeding?”

She didn’t look at me. She didn’t take my handkerchief. Instead, she said, “Isn’t it beautiful?”

I was shocked. I looked around, trying to see what she did. She poked me in the ribs with her bony index finger and then pointed to the sky.

“What?” I asked, looking up. “The stars?”

She nodded, then said, “Tonight’s one of the brightest nights ever.”

“What’s so special about a bunch of lights in the sky?”

She was silent. After a moment, she quietly said, “To see something so…so pure, so uncorrupted…it makes me want to live.”

I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say. How do you respond to that kind of comment?

In a barely audible whisper, she added, “One day, I’m going to fly and touch the stars.”

And then I noticed it…the light in her eyes.

I sat with her for a while, neither of us talking, both looking at the dark night sky. The short time with her made me think. Her words stuck in my mind through school the next day. Walking home, I wanted to talk to her again. But she wasn’t there.

I went home confused. And then I knew why she wasn’t there.

“Earlier today,” the news anchor reported, “the body of an eighteen year old girl was found in an alley. The murderer is suspected to be her father, who has a record of violence and abuse…”

I didn’t want to listen anymore. I stared at the TV screen where her picture was shown. She was nothing like how I saw her on the street. She was happy and full of life in the picture. When I met her, when I saw her, she seemed…dead. But it was her. There was the same look in her eyes…the same light.

I walked into my room and dumped my backpack on the floor, dragging my feet, making my way towards my bed.

I tossed and turned, but I couldn’t sleep. I gave up and got up. The house was silent. The clock said it was almost 1am.

I walked outside, barefoot, and looked at the stars. They were brighter than the night before. There was a different kind of shine. There was…life.

She really did change me. I look at life…differently now. I cherish it. No, I didn’t love her. No, I wasn’t her friend. We were both strangers. But that brief time with her…it's something I was lucky to have.
